Premise[]

"Phantom Blade: Executioners" is a fast-paced ARPG. Players will journey down a bloody path of love and vengeance between the characters. The game uses a high-speed move action system. You must be able to solve the darkest mysteries.

Gameplay[]

Phantom Blade Executioners is a 2D action RPG title featuring Chinese kung fu martial arts. The game is designed in a unique style called “KungfuPunk” which represents the game’s endless satisfying combat, hack-and-slash gameplay, and the dark world it is set in. As a semi-open world action RPG, you can string long combos together freely, creating your own combos on the fly, allowing you to express your own style of combat.

Approachability – We are fans of dazzling, fast action like games are known for. It’s exhilarating, it’s satisfying, but at the same time, it’s brutally hard. “Approachability” is a real thing in game design. We want to make an action game that is just as cool, yet doesn’t turn / scare people away.
Choreography – The combo chain system makes use of only two buttons, but the possibility is infinite. Be as creative as you like and don’t worry about clumsy fingers
Character Growth – Great combo chains only get you this far. To stand up to challenges, you’ll need more way to grow your characters. Phantom Blade: Executioners offers plenty of options through Phantoms, equipment, and engravings, items that you can find and enhance in the game.
Story Content – As of now, Phantom Blade: Executioners has eight story chapters, in other words, more than 50 hours of quality gaming. More updates will come in intervals of approximately three months, bringing to the table additional story contents and playable characters.
Side Stories – Outside the main story arc, there are tons of side quests and random events to keep players occupied (and rewarded). Explore different ways of doing things and feel the impact of choices.
Endgame Content – The fun stretches beyond the storyline. Even if you’ve finished, the game, there are plenty of things to do. Try ParaWulin challenges and procedurally generated stages for even better random loots. And there are cooperative / confrontational multiplayer modes!

Story[]

"Swords up, Evil down. " The forbidden sorcery which has been disappeared for years popped up. With the power of evil, it can transform martial arts disciples into non-human beings, boosting the power to their up-limit --- with such a top notched power, fame, fortune, power, and desire, all of them are already at their fingertips, even the price of owing it is selling souls to devil, they would scramble for it. Love, hatred and greed, which come down to the soil for nourishing this forbidden sorcery. At the moment, We couldn’t figure out who the real enemies are. Raindrops, coming down again.

Setting[]

The game is set within the Phantom World, a setting for all Phantom Blade game series. It features a diverse culture and rich history, alongside martial arts ("Kung Fu") and technological advancement known as Auto tech.

Your Choices Affect the Story[]

Make difficult decisions to alter the course of events. Will you lie to a young girl looking for her father? Telling her he’s going to be ok when you know full well that he’s not? How about intervening between two feuding brothers? The choices are yours.

Freestyle Skills and Killer Combos[]

During combat players can create different skill chain combos according to their preferences. Long chains, short bursts, and other skills can be easily adjusted. To unleash a skill chain, you’ll need to make sure your timing is right, and may stack Phantom bonuses on each of your character’s unique skills to improve attributes.

Phantom Bonuses and Stories[]

Phantoms are related to the characters and story in the game and each time you acquire a new Phantom or upgrade one, you unlock a Phantom story. These Phantom stories may impact your decision-making and affect how you play out certain scenarios by providing additional story context for each character.

Plenty of Loot[]

Earn equipment and Phantoms after winning battles. Equipment attributes are random and players can mix and match their gear to suit their playing style and aesthetic. Highly-coveted Sin Gears are obtained in Purge Dungeons. Purify Sin Gear to enhance it further. And most loot can be produced in battle.

Plot[]

Phantom Blade: Executioners is an action game set in a Noir universe called the 'Phantom World'. In this world, an evil, corrupting power is turning great fighters into inhuman monsters, increasing their strength to an unnatural degree at the cost of their immortal souls.

Character Development[]

Behind each character is a deep backstory. Here’s a glimpse of some of the headliners:

Protagonists - Soul is the youngest son of the Dark Castle of Mo who had disappeared for many years, but has returned. Mu Xiaokui is the young master of the Organization. Zuo Shang is the youngest son rescued by the maid of Mrs. Long before the Long Clan is destroyed. Xianzhe is a messenger of the Organization with Xukong as her only master. They are all loyal to the Organization because of their ties to Mu Tianmiao, its leader, and are intertwined by chance encounters, conspiracies, and deceptions soon to be revealed.
Bosses - Tang Li studied martial arts assiduously, but always felt inferior. Tempted by the Sha-Chi Mod, the gloomy 27-year-old lost control and became a hideous monster with countless arms. Xie Huichun decided to focus on the medical arts because he believed it was more heroic, before he transformed. Monk Dinghai is racked with guilt for assisting Ningyuan in the development of the Forbidden Tech. Dugu Linghe got caught up in a tragic and complicated relationship with Mister Li. In despair, she met a mysterious man in white and accepted the Sha-Chi Mod.

Xianzhe is a messenger of the Organization with Xukong as her only master. They are all loyal to the Organization because of their ties to Mu Tianmiao, its leader, and are intertwined by chance encounters, conspiracies, and deceptions soon to be revealed.

Phantom World – The Phantom World is a vast fantasy world with highly detailed / varied terrains and history. Costumes and architecture are mostly based on Chinese conventions back in the 14th to 7th century, augmented with modern adaption.
Organization – The Organization is a manipulating force pulling strings behind the scene, trying to maintain law and order in a world full of ambitious conspirators. Its founder, an extremely powerful kungfu master in his own right, was pursuing a vision way ahead of his time. Few of his contemporaries recognized his values. The Organization flourished and quickly withered as the founder’s charisma waned. The story of Phantom Blade: Executioners happened during the Organization’s brief heyday.
Five Playable Characters – Soul, Mu Xiaokui, The Chord, and Zuo Shang and her lackey. There are five playable characters as of now, each with multiple class advancement routes.
Fluid Animation – Balance is the key word. On the one hand, IK animation tend to be lacking in fine details, on the other hand, animation hand-drawn per-frame in the traditional way does not have the efficiency for mass production. With an arsenal of proprietary tools, we are taking the best of both worlds, augmenting CG animation with the talented touch of real artists.
2D, Yet 3D – The scenography of Phantom Blade: Executioners represents scrolls of traditional Chinese painting, yet players traverse scenes with a actual depth, instead of “height” as typical in Metroidvania games.
